Tuition (TAP & TRP)

Harvard University offers tuition assistance to eligible employees. Follow the steps outlined below to begin the application process. To start, review the Harvard University Tuition Program Booklet, which outlines the program details including eligibility requirements, eligible courses, credit limits, and more.

Summer Semester Deadline: July 21, 2025 is the deadline to submit job-related attestations for graduate-credit courses taken at a participating Harvard school that meet the IRS standard of job relatedness. The deadline also applies to the manager/supervisor  approval.

  • Important Note #1: TAP and TRP forms submitted through the Voya Harvard Tuition portal prior to July 1, 2025 will be processed by Voya. Requests that are pending additional documentation including manager/supervisor approval will need to be completed with Sentinel after July 1, 2025, but prior to the end of the submission period. If you need to resubmit your form through the new portal, Harvard Benefits will reach out to you in early July.
  • Important Note #2: 2025 amounts that have already been utilized will be added to your Sentinel account. You will see these transactions in your account after July 1, 2025. New requests made after July 1, 2025 will be reflected in your Sentinel account once your submission has been processed. To process your submission request, use the appropriate form(s) linked below.

TRP Program (non-Harvard courses)

Step 1:

Confirm your educational institution is accredited.

  • Verify the educational institution is on the list of accredited institutions. If the institution is not listed, the course is not eligible for reimbursement.
  • Certificate and licensing programs must be provided by an accredited institution, or an institution otherwise recognized by the license-granting body and must provide education that supports the core duties of an internal Harvard position. Please contact Harvard Benefits at 617-496-4001 or benefits@harvard.edu prior to enrolling in a certificate or licensing program to confirm program eligibility.

Step 2:

Upon successful completion of the course, submit your tuition reimbursement application.

Please select the appropriate application below. Applications and documentation must be submitted within sixty (60) days of the last day of the class. You will need to upload proof of cost and proof of payment at the time you submit your application.

If you are not able to obtain the required documentation within 60 days of the last day of the course, you MUST contact Harvard Benefits before the deadline to discuss an extension.

Once you submit the form, you will receive an email from ClientCare@sentinelgroup.com with a PDF of the form. If you are submitting for graduate-credit courses, and have designated a course as job-related, be sure to accurately enter your manager/supervisor’s email. A PDF of the form will be sent from ClientCare@sentinelgroup.com to your manager/supervisor with a link to the online approval form. They must submit their approval within 60 days of the last day of the course or your claim will be denied. You will be notified by email once they have completed the process.

Please note: Non-Harvard graduate-credit courses must be job-related in order to be eligible for reimbursement under TRP, unless you are covered under HUCTW.

Sentinel Group will review your application submission within a week of your submission. You will receive a notification via email confirming your application status, including when your request is approved and a payment is set to go out.
