Start your career with a LEAP!

At Sentinel Benefits, we are dedicated to helping our clients create meaningful employee benefit programs so that they can develop successful businesses. An effective employee benefit program should reward and motivate optimal performance. The ideal program should manifest integrity, meticulous planning and impeccable quality, creating a sharper competitive advantage. We partner with companies to deliver the most appropriate combination of benefit programs for their employees. We also work one-on-one with individuals. Whether they’re just getting started or ready for retirement, our professional financial consultants work with them to make sure they’re knowledgeable and prepared—not overwhelmed and confused.

What is LEAP?

The Sentinel Benefits Leadership Experience and Advancement Program (LEAP) is a 12-month rotational program designed to offer recent college graduates the chance to develop professionally, and explore career paths in the financial services industry in a way that suits their interests. You’ll gain valuable experience through direct exposure to real world situations as well as support through mentorship and professional training. LEAP is a flexible program that allows you to customize parts of your experience based on your background, skills and interests.

LEAP participants spend time gaining experience in a variety of roles, across many areas including:

  •     Investment Advisory Services
  •     Client Services
  •     Sales and Marketing
  •     Employee Benefits Administration
  •     Retirement Plan Operations
  •     Finance
Each year, Sentinel Benefits recruits a “class” of recent college graduates from different colleges and backgrounds. Each LEAP participant is then assigned both a mentor and a buddy. The mentor is an industry expert with years of experience who will be able to teach you about their field of expertise. The buddy is an employee who has been with Sentinel for at least one year and will help you acclimate to the fundamentals of our industry and support you with friendly advice.

LEAP participants can also enjoy our company culture. Sentinel Benefits employees regularly partake in both charity and social events including community outreach, road races, and seasonal parties. These activities are a great way to have fun and get to know your co-workers outside of the office setting.

At the end of the program, LEAP participants have a much greater understanding of not only our business, but the financial services industry as a whole. You will become familiar with the intricacies of the financial services industry while also becoming more knowledgeable with everyday financial basics. That understanding gives LEAP participants an edge in deciding which positions or fields they would like to pursue.

Meet the class of 2017

Chris Kelleher

Chris Kelleher is from Marshfield, Massachusetts and graduated from Saint Anselm College with a degree in Criminal Justice. During Chris’ time there, he was a member of the fraternity Kappa Delta Phi, where he was a Sargent at Arms. During Chris’ free time, he enjoys playing tennis and spending time with family and friends.

When asked why he choose LEAP, he said, “As a criminal justice major, I was not sure what I wanted to do in the business world, but I knew that Sentinel’s culture was a great fit for me. LEAP provided a great learning opportunity and the ability to narrow in on what exactly I wanted to do here at Sentinel.”

Chris says that he would highly recommend this program.  He said it is “a great learning experience and a great way to learn how the company works and what each department does. You also develop great understanding about how the departments are connected and work together.”

Steven Campbell

Steven Campbell is from Lynnfield, Massachusetts and graduated from Wesleyan University with a BA in History. During his time there, his studies primarily focused on economic history and entrepreneurship. He was a member of the Wesleyan Cardinals wrestling team, achieving Scholar All-American honors.

Post-college, Steven pursued several varied business prospects and ventures in different industries, including several years as an owner of an art gallery and antique store. During his free time, he enjoys art museums, deep sea fishing, horses, and archaeological pursuits.

When asked about the reason he selected LEAP, Steven said, “It was an amazing opportunity. The immersion style program gives individuals working exposure to different sectors within the financial industry. Rotating through departments within the company cultivates relationships with colleagues throughout the company, while providing a much deeper and complete understanding of the corporation and how it works.”
