Invest in Others Charitable Foundation awarded Sentinel Benefits the 2017 Corporate Philanthropy Award for Advisory Firms!

Sentinel Cares Heart representing the Invest in Others Foundation Corporate Philanthropy Award The Invest in Others Charitable Foundation awarded Sentinel Benefits the 2017 Corporate Philanthropy Award for Advisory Firms at their Invest in Others Awards Gala last night in New York City! In its 11th year, the awards program recognizes individuals and organizations for outstanding charitable initiatives and corporate philanthropy.

Financial advisors from across the country were nominated for actively giving back to non-profits to improve their communities and making a difference in the lives of others. Hundreds of nominations were received this year and finalists were selected based on their leadership, dedication, contribution, inspiration, and impact on a non-profit and the community it serves. The designated non-profits of award finalists and winners will receive donations of up to $25,000 from Invest in Others.

A cornerstone of Sentinel Benefits’ mission is “we care about how we can help,” which extends beyond financial advice and is a central part of the company’s culture of giving back. We run numerous volunteer programs each year through our SentinelCares program. In 2016, the company added a new spin to its food drive for a local food pantry—competition. Employees formed teams and a point system was assigned to the items they collected. Employees cleared the shelves at local supermarkets to collect over 2,000 pounds of food, which was roughly 16 pounds of food per employee.

“Last year, we solidified our purpose as an organization to be devoted to serving others. Servanthood is vital to leadership, and this has opened our hearts and strengthened our company more than monetary giving. Serving helps us as much as those we serve. Listening to the stories of personal service that members of the financial services industry commit to is inspiring—the bar is being raised daily! Sentinel is honored to be among the group of people and organizations who help 1 million people annually across a spectrum of causes including hunger prevention, youth development, financial literacy, medical research, and education.”
